Perhaps you wonder why Sony are re inventing the Spiderman story after fairly reasonable successes? Partly because someone on the inside thinks they can add a lot more human face to the character. The thing that stood for me about spiderman in my childhood was that he was far more human than Superman. So it is no surrise that re inventing this aspect of the character promises to bring him back to life in a new way. Same thing happened with batman when we was made into a darker character than the television series, which was very camp and not at all as Bob Kane had intended.

We are told in a press release that when he started with his superpowers it was his physical attributes that changed. But there was nothing on the emnotional side that was any different.

So for the next release he develops a new romantic relationship with his very first girl friend.Stacy is more of an intellectual, and would fit into that mold today. The makers are coy about the first kiss, preferring to keep us waiting for that moment.

As for new stunts, many are more related to real life and in this way the makers hope to make an even stronger connection with its audience.
Also there is a little scientific background on the effects of that first spider bite when Peter Parker started to evolve into Spiderman. Things like changes to his skin and other bodily effects.
